If an article URL opens the homepage, check whether the page exists and is published, whether its slug changed, and whether a redirect plugin or host rule sends unknown URLs to the root. Test the URL while logged out and inspect the final address. A homepage fallback can hide a 404 without delivering the requested content.
Review the post permalink, redirect rules, and WordPress permalink settings. Save permalink settings only when appropriate, then clear relevant caches and retest the original URL. Avoid broad search-and-replace or database edits without a backup and a clear plan.
Google lists redirects and broken links among potential navigation issues in its AdSense approval guidance. Use SiteReadyScore to identify affected public URLs, then inspect each route and fix the true destination. A scan cannot determine which redirect rule in WordPress or hosting caused the behavior.
