Keep the privacy policy aligned when adding or removing plugins

Plugins can introduce analytics, advertising, forms, payment, or support services that affect visitor data. Before activating a plugin, review what data it collects and where it sends it. After activation, update your privacy policy and consent configuration as needed. When removing a plugin, check whether its scripts, cookies, or old disclosures remain.

Google’s required privacy-policy content describes disclosures for Google advertising cookies and third-party vendors. Google’s Publisher Policies also include privacy-related requirements. Applicable laws may require additional steps; consult qualified counsel for legal questions.

Example: A site adds an email signup plugin that passes addresses to a mailing service, but the privacy page only describes Google ads. Update the disclosure and form notice to match the actual flow, then test the signup and withdrawal process.

Use SiteReadyScore to check that the public privacy page is present and reachable. It cannot inventory every plugin’s data processing or certify legal compliance.
