AdSense readiness for news, commentary, and current-events sites

News and commentary pages should make clear what happened, when it happened, and which claims come from which sources. Separate factual reporting from opinion. Link to primary documents or direct statements when possible. Add a publication date and update note when circumstances change, but do not change dates simply to make old coverage look new.

Review images and video for licensing and context. Headlines should accurately describe the article, and breaking-news pages should be corrected when initial information is superseded. If the page covers sensitive subject matter, check Google’s current policy categories and any restrictions rather than assuming all coverage is either fully monetizable or prohibited.

Google’s Publisher Policies define content requirements for pages monetized with Google ad code, while Publisher Restrictions explain that some content may receive limited ad demand. Use the account’s Policy Center to see site-specific status. Do not present a general blog post as a private enforcement diagnosis.

Example: A commentary article quotes a viral post as fact without checking the original source. Update it with a primary source, mark the correction, and distinguish the author’s interpretation from verified details. For a developing story, include the last checked time and the uncertainty that remains.

Use SiteReadyScore to check public URLs and help prioritize a content and navigation review. The tool cannot fact-check breaking news, assess editorial fairness, or predict advertiser demand; those require human judgment and current source review.
