Verify sitemap and canonical URLs after a site migration

After a host, domain, or permalink change, check that your sitemap lists the production URLs you intend to maintain. Open several entries and confirm they resolve directly to the correct page. Review canonical tags so they do not point to staging or a different page. Use Search Console for Google’s indexing information; sitemap submission does not guarantee indexing or AdSense approval.

Google’s site-not-ready guidance covers public site access, while Search Central’s crawling and indexing documentation covers search crawling. Keep the two systems distinct in your explanations.

Run SiteReadyScore on the production domain to check public reachability. Then inspect sitemap and canonical outputs with appropriate site tools and recheck Search Console. The scan is not a substitute for Google’s indexing reports.
